Volcanoes are amazing locations where the hot magma that is the life blood of the planet breaches through the rock crust we think of as "the ground" and spews forth as amazing glowing lava. After four days, flights across Europe are still suspended as a result of Iceland's volcano eruption. This is the most extensive air travel shutdown since the terror attack of 9/11. Flights have been slashed by a quarter since the volcano's eruption last Thursday (15/4/2010), causing airlines to suffer hundreds of millions of dollars in daily damages. Hundreds of thousands of passengers have been stranded worldwide due to thick clouds of ashes which are smothering the continent. Unfortunately it isn't quite over yet, as officials predict the suspension of aviation to continue for a few days to come.
