The Caribbean is a beach-lover's paradise. There are beaches all over the place, and, what's more, the carefree beach culture that goes along with the nomadic oceanic lifestyle. If life is getting you down, just go to the beach. There you will be reminded that all manner of adventure is awaiting you on the other side of the horizon, if you just have the tenacity to propel yourself there. First inhabited by Arawak and later by Carib Indians, the Virgin Islands were settled by the Dutch in 1648 and then annexed by the English in 1672. The islands were part of the British colony of the Leeward Islands from 1872-1960; they were granted autonomy in 1967. The economy is closely tied to the larger and more populous US Virgin Islands to the west; the US dollar is the legal currency. What is the best thing to do when visiting there?

What is the best beach in Europe? It's a tough question to settle out. How do you determine which characteristics make it on your list of important characteristics? Sand quality? Heat level? The Caribbean is a great place, and there are many lovely beaches there for you to enjoy.
